Scouting Report

Hitting

Although persistent shoulders & leg problems have sapped his power by reducing his swing and preventing him from getting full extension, Will Vandergrift remains a potent combination of contact and base hitting. Vandergrift powerful line-drive stroke has natural loft, and he drives the ball to all fields with above-average punch. Vandergrift at times can be a patient hitter who reads pitches well and displays superior strike zone judgment who can draw some walks.

Base-Running & Defense

Will Vandergrift has average speed at present but will pick up a grade as he continues to run. His long strides, opportunistic baserunner, will take an extra base on a fielding error. Although he’s not Gold Glove material, he continues to make strides as a utility player. Vandergrift contuse to make improvement and his throwing accuracy continues to display adequate range afield.
