Scouting Report

Hitting

Tyler Antcliff is a very natural base hit hitter who makes it all look easy. An excellent basewith a lower half, Antcliff remains balanced throughout his swing. A line-drive orientedstroke Antcliff doesn’t lift the ball instead his line drives have lots of top spin and carries, though his power can play from gap to gap as extra base hits. Antcliff has just enoughjuice in the bat to keep pitchers and defenses honest. His tremendous overall feel forthe batter’s box helps him track the ball very well as he recognizes the spin and staysback in the zone. Antcliff will expand his zone at times but he still makes hard contact. He likes to swing the bat and will be aggressive but picks his spots. Antcliff is showingmore patience and desire to find the pitch he can do the most damage with.

Base-Running & Defense

Antcliff gets out of the box well and is consistently above-average down theline. Clearly putting in plenty of effort when he’s running but it doesn’t look difficult. With solid instincts on the base paths Antcliff will go from 1st to 3rd on any missplayed ball in the outfield. His speed plays a bit better on longer runs whenattempting to score. Energetic defender who works hard in the outfield but doesit with grace. A natural defender who reads the ball well off the bat, Antcliff getssmart jumps and is very good in all directions. He gets there quickly and settlesunder the ball, though at times Antcliff will get aggressive and try to make difficultplays without care for his body. He knows game situations and does all the littlethings as a defender; solid OF glove that could handle himself on the corners;like most players, could use a bit more polish as he moves up, but coulddefend in the upper level right now.
