Hitting
Travis Platt continues to emerge as one of the most aggressive young hitters in the leagues. He consistently gets the barrel on the ball with surprisingly good pop as he adapts well by hitting the ball to the opposite part of the field, particularly against outside flat-pitches. Platt is vulnerable to stuff that crowds him inside and that remains the best strategy to get him out. He often will get himself out by chasing short pitches that he has difficulty lying off. Platt has shown good plate coverage as he had been showing more consistent patience at the plate as he gets most of his base hits on flat pitches out of the strike zone.
Base-Running & Defense
An aggressive base runner, Travis Platt plus, plus speed wreaks havoc on the base paths when taking those extra bases. With outstanding judgment Platt knows when to pick his spots to run, though he’s still a little raw and needs to learn the nuances of base running he is still among the best youngster currently in the leagues. Travis Platt has the skills to be a strong defensive infielder, though his rec league team has been playing him in left center field. As an infielder, Platt has soft hands with quick pinpoint accuracy throws with great quickness which allows him to cover plenty of ground in his routes while reading the ball off the bat. His strong arm, that projects to be a plus in the future, turns the double play very well.
