2016   S e a s o n

The WHAT? Softball Squads finished the 2016 season with a decidedly pedestrian record of 32 – 45. Their middle of the standing finish behind the usual Lake County Clubs was marked by a series of false starts that ruined the hopes of fans, as well as themselves. The question now of course is whether that was merely a hiccup or the beginning of the end of a run that never fully materialized.

The standouts for the summer were MVP outfielder Adam Tagli, who batted .565 during league play. He had 28 extra base hits and 60 RBIs. Pitcher Ralph Lozano was also stellar during the league play, he had 37 extra base hits and 119 RBIs. Kyle Risinger (28), Ryan Siembal (24) and Aaron Archibald (23) reach on Base on Balls was a combined total of 75 that lead all of Lake County.

Summer League Standing

The WHAT? Squad have had some great teams and some bad teams. Teams that have won championships and teams that have fallen short. On Thursday July 7th, the Libertyville squad defeated Emil’s club to a score of 10 – 7 to remain undefeated at 8 and 0, and clinch 1st place and the Thursday Night League title. The game ended with shortstop Matt Boley making a spectacular defensive play on which he throw out base runner and onetime teammate Thomas Wolfer at first base to capture the title.

Three prospects who may crash the top five or crash are outfielders Tommy Dubicki and Brad Callahan with first basemen Connor Fitzgerald. All three of them graduated Lakes High School in 2014 and all three of them were in the batting order with Brad Callahan being of great interest based on age – just 19-years-old last season. Callahan who took home the Rookie of the Year award with 10 extra base hits and 36 RBIs in 25 games played. The term “intriguing” is applied to Callahan.
