Scouting Report

Hitting

Sean Bakkum was one of the more intriguing high school player in the Draft class of 2011,and he’s more than lived up to that advanced billing. Just 18, the Waukegan native has the potential to do a little bit of everything while playing a premium position. Bakkum; a line-drive hitter, which should continue to generate more power than he’s already shown.Bakkum has already showed an advanced knowledge of the strike zone, especiallyfor his age. Bakkum plate discipline is much more advanced than most hitters his age,and he should hit for plenty of average along with his excellent raw power, which he’lltap into it even more as he matures.

Base-Running & Defense

With above-average speed and even better base running instincts, Sean Bakkumis an excellent base runner who knows how to pick his spots in taking extra bases. Bakkum has all the tools to be a plus defensive outfielder, especially with a plus arm that had some thinking of him as a High School pitcher. While Bakkum is athletic and impressively strong, defensively will be the strongest part of his game.He has excellent range, especially to his left, and possesses the kind of arm that allows him to throw out a runner even after making a play deep in the hole. He works hard and gets very good grades for his makeup.
