Scouting Report

Hitting

One of the game’s blossoming upcoming superstars, Nolan Sordyl had an extraordinary season followed by an even more phenomenal playoffs. His patience comes and goes as he tries to pull too many outside pitches. Though, he attacks the first pitch with good results, he doesn’t get himself into too many deep counts and the base on balls are far less frequently. A strong run producer Sordyl loses some power against tournament type pitchers as he attempts to make those adjustments, but as a ground ball and line-drive gap hitter, he loses little in overall effectiveness. Sordyl is a marvelous hitter who is extremely strong with a very quick bat and uses his legs well in his swing.

Base-Running & Defense

Blessed with excellent speed, Nolan Sordyl is a formidable base runner. He can beat out an infield hit or leg out a triple with equal skill. Sordyl highlight film could be an instructional video on what a five-tool player is. He runs like a gazelle and easily can turn what appears to be a double into a stand up triple. An aggressive base runner that does an excellent job of reading fielders, enabling him to score on miss played opportunities from the opponents. Sordyl is an All Star infielder that attacks grounders with reckless abandon and possesses a solid strong, accurate throwing arm. His speed and athleticism allows him to attempt to make plays when most other infielder wouldn’t even consider it. Sordyl great quickness and soft nature hands turn the double plays very well, and rarely makes mental errors. These abilities garnered Sordyl a Gold Glove some day.
