Scouting Report

Hitting

Seen by many as a pure hitter in the lower levels, Nick Boyer is a polished prospect who looks like a quality middle of the order bat. It’s easy to underestimate Nick Boyer offensive impact because of his inexperienced. Between his strength and energy Boyer contributes in a variety of ways. Nick Boyer is an aggressive first-pitch hitter who will often swing at bad pitches. However, he has become more adapting at working counts. Nick Boyer doesn’t usually bat at the top of the order, but he has enough power to be a useful run producer. His extra-base power will grow considerably as he becomes more mature and shortened his stroke to allow him to drive pitches into the gaps. That might dim his prospect stardom a little, but long-term it really shouldn’t matter: his bat is good enough for any position, and he looks to be a solid piece in the Squad’ rebuilding effort.

Base-Running & Defense

As an advanced ball player with an excellent work ethic and (by all reports) a solid character, he should move quickly through the softball system. As an aggressive base runner with surprising-above speed, Nick Boyer is not afraid to stretch a single into an extra base hit. He also does an excellent job of reading fielders, enabling him to score on miss played opportunities from the opponents. Defensively, Nick Boyer is one of the game’s most underrated fielders, who can pick them with the best. Watching him defend the middle and turning a 360, zeroing in and gunning a throw across the infield to retire a, would be base runner can be nothing short of breath taking. Limberness and athleticism are two qualities that make Nick Boyer a dependable infielder.
