Scouting Report

Hitting

Neil Sankpal shows patient at the plate and takes close pitches. Average bat speed but his hands are relatively quiet with little noise through zone. Neil tends to flick his shoulder causing a delay in his timing and some times has barrel up on pitches. But still evident; nothing flashy with the hit tool; the timing issues are more of a concern than anything else; leaves him unbalanced at times. Neil power is fringe at best, a single hitter with surprising pop in his bat for his wiry frame and lack of pure muscle.

Base-Running & Defense

Neil Sankpal is an excellent base runner. He uses his good speed well, running with his head up to take advantage of advancement opportunities without running into outs. Neil Sankpal at secondbase; efficient around the base; shows ability to maneuver around a sliding runner on DP ball; turns DP in one smooth motion; quick feet; can get tied up at times;better range to left side than up the middle; overall range is average; more reps at 2B likely smooth out his process.
