Scouting Report

Hitting

Mike Wick will have to work hard to end any long slump, but can he make it happen. He went from making three or four hard outs a week to continually getting jammed and not hitting the ball out of the infield. Wick, who follows his own workout and pregame preparation routines, took the same approach to hitting. He didn’t take a lot of advice from the Minor League Coaches and tried to get through it on his own. Veteran pitchers who like to keep the ball low and short dominate him and so he struggles with runners in scoring position. A gap-to-gap hitter, he knows how to work the count.

Base-Running & Defense

Mike Wick played all four-outfield positions but spent most of the time in right side. He is adequate in right, particularly in cozy Belvidere Park, and catches the balls he reaches. His arm is a tick below average. Mike Wick has average speed and rarely tries to take an extra base. However, he is an alert and aggressive base runner who will steal an extra base if the defense naps.
