Statistically Speaking:

Marcus Pletcher has a very good feel for hitting; knows his game and executes it; doesn’t try to overstep his boundaries at the plate, a trap many young hitters fall into; approach is best described as selectively aggressive; doesn’t often expand zone and will take a walk, but is very aggressive on pitches within the zone and looks to attack; ideal approach for a pure hitter. Pletcher can have some concerns about timing issue often created by using slide step and other timing-disrupting mechanisms in this look ; projects for more gap-to-gap/doubles power with low-double digit HR annually.

Upside Potential:

Though profiling as a Right fielder, Pletcher’ hitting talent can carry him to the role of a upper-league regular. Given that the young hitter shows a knack for squaring balls up and has the bat speed, there’s the potential for 15-18 extra base-hits as he continues to mature and learn his strike zone.

They Said It:

"Marcus Pletcher won’t light you up with raw tools, but he’s fun to watch, while I love his general approach to hitting, I don’t think it’ll keep him from being a fine upper leaguer, however.” -- Rusty Kuntz – Director of Amateur Scouting
