Scouting Report
Hitting
Kevin Lowery is capable of reaching the fences from left-field to the right field foul pole. Last year, moving to the forth spot, he understandably made more of an effort to pull the ball. It paid off, as he hit plenty out. Strong and sometimes patient,he generally takes the first strike but will punish a pitcher who starts him with a fat meat ball. Much of his confidence and willingness to wait out a pitcher stems from his ability to hit with two strikes as he’s a respectable .544 hitter with two strikes for his career. He’s a pronounced flyball hitter, and southpaws do not faze him.
Base-Running & Defense
There are few better base runners in softball than the hard driving Kevin Lowery. He combines good decisions with extreme aggressiveness to take extra bases and break up double plays. He has taken as many as 31 extra bases in a season, so that threat cannot be ignored. Defensively, Kevin Lowery is the standard by which all other third basemen are measured.He routinely makes plays no one else even attempts.
