Scouting Report

Hitting

Josh Grey is vulnerable to hard flat stuff that crowds him, and that remains the best strategy to get him out. He often will get himself out by chasing eye-high deep balls, pitches that he has difficulty lying off. He gets many of his base hits on flat pitch down in the strike zone, and softball league pitchers also try to avoid throwing flat changeups over the plate to Josh Grey. He has good plate coverage and displays consistent extra-base power to the opposite field. He also has been showing more consistent patience at the plate.

Base-Running & Defense

Josh Grey has outstanding speed and even better base running instincts. Grey is a solid runner who knows how to pick his spots to run. He shows good judgment in taking the extra base. He’s a strong defensive fielder with soft hands; his assists are misleading because few teams will risk running on his quick-release pinpoint accuracy throws.
