Scouting Report

Hitting

Jon Pieper is equipped with a toolbox of skills. He’s a quick twitch athlete who makes hard contact, runs fast, throws well, and has the potential to hit for power though it hasn’t fully developed yet. With that said, Pieper must increase his times appear indecisive. Pieper will get good loft, but not so much where he bats out of the hitting zone quickly. Torque he creates between his torso and hips. Though Pieper has a tendency to let the ball travel deep into his hitting zone, and waits to unload on it, resulting into ground balls.

Base-Running & Defense

Jon Pieper has above-average speed, and displays good judgment on the bases and will take an extra base if ignored. Defensively, Pieper possesses terrific instincts in the outfield. He covers plenty of ground with his speed and his plus-plus accurate arm unquestionably plays well. Pieper leads all softball outfielders with the highest fielding percentage; his assists are misleading because few teams will risk running on his quick-release pinpoint accuracy throws. He routinely makes plays no one else even attempts. Pieper is now considered to be the standard by which all other outfielders are measured. And is among the best young player currently in the leagues.
