Scouting Report

Hitting

A thickly-built, wide-framed softball player Jerry Vasquez started out in his career using Alumni Bats before switching over to the current era bats. He draws special attention for his body type and the attack angle of his quick right-handed swing. As an advanced bat with an excellent work ethic and (by all reports) a solid character, has the abilities to drive the ball into right center field forces the opponents to shift. His struggles centered directly on his legging injuries along with his lack of playing time. A veteran ball player with mass of amount of experience, though most scouts would agree that Vasquez bat speed has considerably slowed over the years.

Base-Running & Defense

Vasquez probably could play well into his 60, but his knees won’t let him. This is why the organization is trying to keep him healthy by using him on the field as little as possible. At this stage of his career, they limit him to catching with a pitch runner on stand-by. As a catcher with the entire universe of game calling and defense to master, he’s still is a plus defender with quick feet and his accurate throwing arm. He’s played a handful of games at first base over the years and can probably still fill in there in a case of an emergency. Though, the catching positioning would suit him best.
