Scouting Report

Hitting

Dylan Florio features a dangerous combination of power, contact hitting and strike-zone judgment. He adjusts well to pitching patterns and game situations, which allows him to be productive even when behind in the count. Although he’s a good RBI producer, Florio is more likely to contend for a batting title than a home-run crown because his slightly uppercut stroke produces line drives and he uses all fields. A patient hitter who often succeeds against finesse pitchers, Florio has more trouble against power pitchers who can throw hard and soft stuff high and tight for strikes.

Base-Running & Defense

Because he always hustles in the field and on base, Dylan Florio succeeds at both despite an awkward appearance. He’s an average defender who has improved his range at third and has learned to scoop and make an actuate throw. His large build belies decent foot speed and he reads fielders well enough to surprise them with an extra base attempt.
