Statistically Speaking:

Coming out of college, there was some concern over whether Drake Larriuz would get on base enough to be a lead-off type since he was more of a hacker in college. But, there are some will say anyone waiting for the 23-year-old to hit a wall in his first taste of full-season softball may be disappointed. It's always nice to see a young player make adjustments, and it appears Larriuz did just that in the Chula Vista Tournament. After an opening weekend in January that saw him hit .600, the college rookie turned it up a notch.

Upside Potential:

His bat is ready right now. Whatever outfield position he plays, he's got the chance to be an impact bat at the top of any lineup in softball.

They Said It:

"His glove is good and he’s already reading and running down those deep fly balls in the gap with great speed in a very easy manner. He is an intuitively bright kid who has exceptional game awareness on both offense and defense. ... He is special in many ways. A great kid, one you would take as family." -- Jack Glasscock – WHAT? Scouting director
