Scouting Report

Hitting

Dale Sizemore is the classic right-handed slap hitter, especially when he’s advancing runners over. He has hit more singles to all fields, but doubles and triples almost always into the gap. Sizemore junked his trademark foot-lift before each swing last season, something he had used his entire career. He said he felt it helped him pick up the ball quicker and get to it more easily. Some club officials thought that might have been more mental than anything but were so glad to see his improvement that they didn’t argue.

Base-Running & Defense

Dale Sizemore glove is the reason he has been a regular in the rec leagues now for many seasons. He has soft hands, reacts quickly and shows good range because of his ability to read hitters in situations. He doesn’t have that overpowering arm, but he has a quick release and his throws are on line. He does not make mental mistakes, either in the field or on the bases. Sizemore is only a step better than average as a runner, but he is aware of situations and will take extra bases on a routine basis.
