Scouting Report
Hitting
It’s easy to underestimate Clark Collins offensive impact because of the personal he follows in the batting order. But between his discipline,strength and energy Collins contributes in a variety of ways. Collins has excellent hand-eye coordination, so he does a great job of squaring upon the ball and making hard contact. A true power hitter, Collins gets more distant on his batted balls with his long arms and powerful wrists during those late evening games because of the cool nights, which possesses more loft. During those early hot summer games, Collins becomes more of a line drive hitter, with a much more linear stroke,which makes it more difficult to hit for power. Clark Collins can be aggressive first-pitch hitter who will often swing at high pitches,however; Collins has become more adapting at working the count to his favor, one of Collins pleasant surprises in production as a pro.
Base-Running & Defense
Clark Collins has slightly below average speed; an aggressive base runner with surprising speed, Collins is not afraid to stretch a single into an extra base hit. He also does an excellent job of reading fielders,enabling him to score on miss played opportunities from the opponents.The key, to Clark Collins is always, staying healthy. A solid defender at first base and a Gold Glover, Collins display great instincts with adequate range as he continues to defend his ground with reckless abandonment. Clark Collins possesses a strong, accurate throwing arm that allows him to throw out runners even after making a play deep in the hole, and that could lead to injuries as tend to strain tendons and muscles.
