Scouting Report
Hitting
As long as he’s healthy, Minor should be able to hit 15 home runs a year without much effort. He has the potential to hit 25 or more, having smashed 19 to lead the team in 2002. The key, as always, is staying healthy. He insists on playing the middle of the infield and that could lead to further injuries down the road, as his 200 pounds diving for balls can tend to strain tendons, ligaments and muscles. The other issue is the long slumps he can stumble into, typically around early July.
Base-Running & Defense
There are no Gold Gloves in his trophy case, but Minor has improved defensively up the middle in recent seasons, particularly in scooping grounders. He is capable of making the reaction catch on liners backup the box. He is athletic and runs well enough to make some good plays, but sometimes misses some he should make. His arm is average to a tick above average.
