Scouting Report

Hitting

Carson Florio plays a deep out field and ranges well laterally and toward the fence. He has a knack for making sliding grabs on pop-ups, but balls do drop in front of him in short outfield. Florio’ arm seems to be getting weaker and good runners can go from first to third on him. He has only average speed, but he makes good decisions allowing him to take extra bases on hit balls. Carson looks to pull balls that are middle and in. He will take out-side pitches the other way at times. He has good power on high deep pitches in the strike zone, and usually puts together a good at-bat in clutch situations.

Base-Running & Defense

There are no gold gloves in his trophy case, but Carson Florio has improved defensively up the middle in recent seasons, particularly in scooping grounders. He is capable of making the reaction catch on liners backup the box. He is athletic and runs well enough to make some good plays, but sometimes misses some he should make. His arm is average to a tick above average.
