Scouting Report

Hitting

Carlos Carrillo hits from a tall even stance with above-average bat speed, his hands start high but loads just below shoulder. Carlos presents plenty of raw power but is at his best when he trusts his swing to take the ball to the right side or up the middle. He sometimes gets long with his swing and will go through stretches when he is vulnerable to grounders’ but should play into his game with his bat speed and loft on hit balls. He has a problem with lack of plate discipline, because of his aggressive hitting. Carlos will need to improve his contact skills so he can stay out of those funks.

Base-Running & Defense

Carlos Carrillo shows blazing speed, gets out of the box quickly with great acceleration. A smarter base runner than his career extra bases success rate (63% in 47 attempts) suggests. Goes from first to third well. Although Carlos Carrillo is not Gold Glove material, he continues to make strides as a fielder. With his average glove at present Carlos at times struggles with reads and poor decision-making, will throw behind runners. He carries a plus throwing arm and accurate at times, but his throws carry good and line.
