Scouting Report

Hitting

There may not have been another hitter in the 2011 Draft class who got off to a hotter start than Caleb Arthur who is capable of reaching the fences from left to the right center field. Strong and sometimes patient, Arthur still has an undisciplined approach to the plate and often will get himself out by chasing pitches that he has difficulty lying off. But, Arthur has been learning to make adjustments to get out of those funks and projects to have enough pop to be a run-producer.

Base-Running & Defense

There are few better base runners in softball than the hard-driving Caleb Arthur. He combines good decisions with extreme aggressiveness to take extra bases and break up double plays. He positions himself well and reads the ball off the bat better than most rookie outfielders, but his inexperience was exposed on liners that found SportsPark deep alleys. Arthur’ arm is above average and quite accurate, which makes his defensive contributions underrated.
