Scouting Report

Hitting

Brad Shippee is quick twitch athlete who runs fast; and has been a consistent hitter throughout his young career, spraying line drives all around the diamond. His approach is the best part of his game, as he consistently gets himself into hitter’ counts and doesn’t mind a walk. He could produce some astounding offensive totals in a potent lineup. Already physically mature, softball scouts wonder how much more room he has to grow. Shippee has respectable power and is especially adept at staying inside the ball and driving it hard down the line, particularly on inside pitches. He’s much more of a line-drive hitter than a home run hitter, and many of his hits come on hard liners through the infield or into the gaps.

Base-Running & Defense

Blessed with excellent speed, Brad Shippee is a formidable base runner. He can beat out an infield hit or leg out any extra base hits with equal skill. Shippee runs like a gazelle and easily can turn what appears to be a double into a stand up triple. An aggressive base runner that does an excellent job of reading fielders, enabling him to score on miss played opportunities from the opponents. Shippee is an legit infielder that attacks grounders with reckless abandon and possesses a solid strong, accurate throwing arm. His speed and athleticism allows him to attempt to make plays when most other infielder wouldn’t even consider. Shippee great quickness and soft nature hands turn the double plays very well, and rarely makes mental errors.
