Scouting Report

Hitting

Although persistent shoulders and leg problems have sapped his power by reducing his swing and preventing him from getting full extension, Andy Olson remains a potent combination of contact and base hitting. Olson powerful line-drive stroke has natural loft, and he drives the ball to all fields with above-average punch. Olson at times can be a patient hitter who reads pitches well and displays superior strike zone judgment who can draw some walks. Some pitchers recently have had some success throwing the ball in on his hands, but he still is a dangerous hitter with runners on base, equally likely to beat pitchers with along ball or a run-scoring double.

Base-Running & Defense

The natural talent is there for Andy Olson, but he’ll need to make a few adjustments to take his game to the next level. His foot speed should not be underrated as a tremendous weapon and Olson will take an extra base when opportunities occur. Andy Olson mental make-up, young, smart, and his work ethic are widely praised and he gives the Club more value than the average outfielder. Although he’s not Gold Glove material yet,he continues to make strides as an outfielder. Olson contuse to make improvement and his throwing accuracy continues to display adequate range afield.
