Scouting Report

Hitting

Kevin Keefe is your typical talented projectable athlete with an uppercut swing that too often leads to pop flys instead of keeping the ball on the ground and using his speed. Kevin who displays his natural young ability is susceptible to pitchers who go up the ladder with high pitches. He swings are with intent, which will often lead to soft grounders at times, but when contact is made, the ball has the potential to go a long way. Kevin Keefe is already physically mature and is versatile enough to hit anywhere in the lineup, and we wonder how much more room he has to grow. Stats won’t tell the whole story, but streakiness seems to be an unavoidable part of his game. The natural talent is there for Kevin, but he’ll need to make a few adjustments to take his game to the next level.

Base-Running & Defense

Kevin Keefe mental make-up, team player, athletic and his work ethic are widely praised and he gives the Club more value than most players his age. Though Keefe natural speed isn’t spectacular; he makes the most of it in every way. He will take an extra base on any hit ball if the outfielder isn’t vigilant, and has the ability to break up double plays or run through a catcher when opportunities occur. Kevin Keefe has the ability to play all four-outfield positions but will spent most of his time in right field. He is adequate in right field; Keefe will position himself well and reads the ball off the bat just as good than most outfielders. His average foot speed and inexperience was exposed on hard grounders and liners that found deep alleys. He continues to make strides as a fielder.
