Scouting Report
Hitting
Luke Mueller a tremendous athlete with an intriguing combination of, speed, instincts, hand eye coordination and bat discipline. A terrific No. 5 hitter and a strong RBI producer, Mueller uses terrific hand-eye coordination to make consistent contact and recognize pitch types. Mueller understands the importance of actually having a patient approach at the plate. Mueller has a quality that many top rated hitting prospects possess: an ability to RAKE. By this, we mean Luke Mueller has an ability to put the bat head squarely on the ball and get hits on pitches he should have no business swinging at. Mueller continues to emerge as one of the most consistent younger hitters in the league. He has a knack for getting big hits, and his power should increase as his body matures.
Base-Running & Defense
With strong fundamentals with terrific instincts, Mueller is a solid base runner that knows how to pick his spots to run. He shows great judgment in taking the extra bases. No one will deny that Mueller is a tremendous athlete with sure hands, he covers plenty of ground with his speed and his plus-plus accurate arm unquestionably plays well. Mueller leads all softball rookie outfielders with the highest fielding percentage; his assists are misleading because few teams will risk running on his quick-release pinpoint accuracy throws. He routinely makes plays no one else even attempts. Mueller is now considered to be the standard by which all other outfielders are measured. And is among the best young player currently in the leagues.
