Scouting Report

Hitting

Justin Yonke is not your typical ultra-talented, projectable athlete displaying his natural young ability at a young age. He’s already physically mature and I wonder how much more room he has to grow. Justin is versatile enough to hit anywhere in the lineup and his swing plane will result in plenty of fly balls, which will mean more extra base hits. He swings with intent, which will often lead to swings-and-misses, but when contact is made, the ball has the potential to go a long way. He’s also adept at using the entire field and many are waiting and anticipating his pull power will be soon to come.

Base-Running & Defense

Justin Yonke mental make-up, smarts, and work ethic are widely praised and he gives the Club more value than the average second baseman because of his plus glove range. Although he’s not Gold Glove material yet, he continues to make strides as a fielder. Last season he improved his throwing accuracy and continued to display adequate range afield. The natural talent is there for Justin, but he’ll need to make a few adjustments to take his game to the next level. Justin is an excellent base runner as well and will take an extra base when opportunities occur.
