Hitting

Rookie Outfielder Rich McGowan numbers wont really bear this out, but he’s still very young and raw as a player and is just starting to tap into his potential. McGowan swing has yet to really be refined. He does a slight rock at his set-up and then strides forward, letting the bat drag a bit, which adds some length to his swing, but also leaves him in a position to keep the bat head in the hitting zone for a good length of time. The more McGowan plays the more he’ll start to drive the ball, but that will come with experience.

Base-Running & Defense

A polished base runner with above average speed and even better base running instincts, McGowan is a solid runner who knows howto pick his spots to run. He shows good judgment in taking the extra base and he likely will get bolder when he learns the opponents outfielders. He is known for his running and hitting, which makes his defensive contributions underrated. McGowan speed and athleticism should allow him to cover vast amounts of turf and puts himself in a position to make plays.
