Scouting Report

Hitting

Scouts rave about Jimmy Brando bat control and how he can essentially do what hewants with any pitch. An aggressive first-pitch batter who will often swing at a high pitchover the plate. However, Brando has become more adapt at working the counts at thetop of the order and his reach on base on balls will grow considerably as he becomesmore mature. Brando flicks the bat through the strike zone with ease, and he’ll drivethe ball into the center field gaps just as easy as pulling it. He has enough power tobe a useful run producer as he shortened his stroke to allow him to drive base hits.

Base-Running & Defense

Brando is not afraid to stretch a single into an extra base hit. He also doesan excellent job of reading fielders, enabling him to score on miss playedopportunities from the opponents. His foot speed should not be underratedas a tremendous weapon. Brando remains a premier left fielder. He positionshimself well in the outfield and reads the ball off the bat better than most, andcontinues to make fewer errors then most of his peers, by covering significantground from gap to gap. He has a decent arm, and can make it look betterwith good positioning and a quick release.
