Scouting Report

Hitting

Nick Barron is equipped with a toolbox of skills. He’s a quick twitch athlete who makes hard contact and has an excellent approach to the plate, which features a dangerous combination of contact hitting and strike zone judgment. His potential to hit for power though, hasn’t fully developed yet. Much of Barron confidence and willingness to wait out a pitcher stems from his ability to hit with two strikes. Although he’s a strong run producer, Barron is more likely to contend for a batting title than a home-run crown because of his slightly uppercut stroke that produces pop singles.

Base-Running & Defense

A polished base runner with excellent speed and even better base running instincts,Nick Barron knows how to pick his spots to run. He shows great judgment in taking the extra base and he is likely to get bolder when he learns the opponents outfielders when scoring. Barron is known for his running and hitting, but he’s a plus middle infield defender with a very strong arm. He’s light on his feet, and possesses terrific footwork. His athleticism allows him to cover vast amount of infield and he puts himself in position to make plays which makes his defensive contributions underrated. He is, however, working on some of the intricacies of back-handling grounders up and through the middle of the field, where he’s still learning how to read the reactions of batted balls. Although he’s not Gold Glove material yet,he continues to make strides as a fielder.
