Scouting Report

Hitting

With his confidence growing by the week, Toro began to drive pitches he had been happy just to put into play in previous seasons. He used the whole ballpark, going the opposite way against tough pitchers while jerking hangers into the seats. He’s always been an aggressive hitter who swings early in the count, but he did a better job at spoiling filthy pitches. He figures to get more respect from pitchers, which could result in an increase in walks.

Base-Running & Defense

Nestor Toro natural speed is consistently above average and he makes the most of it in every way. With great reads and all-out hustle, Toro is an alert and aggressive base runner who will take an extra base if the opposing defense is sleeping. Defensively, Nestor Toro remains to be a premier outfielder who positions himself well and reads the ball off the bat better than most. He continues to make fewer errors then most of his counterparts by covering significant amount of ground, making acrobatic catches from gap to gap. Toro turns virtually every ball he touches into outs. His arm is above average and quite. He is extraordinarily focused and disciplined and most of his throws hit infielders squarely in the chest.
