Statistically Speaking:

When Matt Cross name comes up, most people talk about his prodigious line drives, both in batting practice and in games. While Cross offensive exploits in the Lake County Leagues were outstanding -- an OPS of 1.580 for a teenager in his first taste of full-season ball is a big reason why he got promoted -- his ability to play shortstop may have been just as big of a reason for his promotion. In 10 games at shortstop with his squad, Cross had a 5.18 range factor.

Upside Potential:

You name it. A top-of-the-order, All-Star-caliber extra base threat who will also be a run producer, all while playing outstanding infield defense.

They Said It:

"We're excited about Matt Cross. He's finally somewhere it kind of matters. But we're as enthused, if not more, by his approach. He's learning to be a professional. He's taking care of himself, which was a concern. He was a young guy who didn't know how that works. He had to figure some things out. He's shown tremendous improvement in that area. He has the chance to someday be a leader, a guy you can count on. He's a quality young man and some of that is starting to show. On the field, his bat is what it is. It's as high a ceiling as a young guy can have." -- Ron Tuggnut – Director of Softball Analytics
