Statistically Speaking:
Rodgers is an outstanding defensive catcher who isn’t afraid to stand in the box with a runner bearing down. With his good presence and good arm, Rodgers possesses the tools to be an above-average to plus defender in the future. He has been careless in the past defensively, but that shouldn't be a problem long-term. He's also no slouch at the plate, showing good plate discipline and the ability to hit for average. Combine that with some serious extra bases ability’s, Rodgers could make for a very good seven hole hitter.
Upside Potential:
The bat will carry him up the ladder. As he matures, both physically and in his approach to the game, Rodgers could develop into a very special hitter, a catcher who is a very consistent run producer.
They Said It:
"He's got some very interesting attributes. Really good contact-ability, really good line-drive approach, works a count well, and is a team player and above-average defensive catcher. With that profile, he has a chance to really impact an Upper Level team one day." -- Ron Tuggnut – Director of Softball Analytics
