Scouting Report

Hitting

Zack Pawlowski has an open stance with above bat speed, but at times his swing can become elongated. Zack will collect most of his base hits on flat pitches down in the strike zone and will drive one into the alley with plenty of extra-base hit power. At times Zack can demonstrate an undisciplined approach at the plate and often will get himself out by chasing high pitches. Zack understands the importance of actually having a patient approach at the plate. He has a quality that many top rated hitting prospects possess: ability to RAKE. By this, we mean Zack has an ability to put the bat head squarely on the ball and get hits on pitches he should have no business swinging at.

Base-Running & Defense

Zack Pawlowski is not fast, but moves well when he is underway, but not a quick-twitch athlete. Zack is an average base runner who knows how to pick his spots to run when judging those potential extra base hits. But, the best that can be said about his base running is that he’s well aware of his limitations. Defensively, Pawlowski has soft hands that give him the ability to get good extension off the base with good picks. Pawlowski understands his limits with his range to his right and when to cover bag. Strong and works well around the base, he possesses a strong, accurate throwing arm that allows him to throw out runners even after making a play deep in the hole.
