Scouting Report

Hitting

With his inside-out swing, Josh Bentivegna prefers to guide the ball to the opposite field and use his speed to get extra bases on balls that find the seams of the outfield defense. He’s a fairly disciplined hitter, rarely offering at balls out of the zone, and he rarely swings and misses. More than a third of his strikeouts come on called strikes. Not surprisingly, flat-pitches inside give him the most trouble. He is fairly helpless against a shift-outfield, making him more of a platoon player than a regular.

Base-Running & Defense

Josh Bentivegna is a solid base runner that knows how to pick his spots to run when judging those potential extra base hits. As his intelligence helps him on the bases, it will also help him be a plus defender on the field. A strong corner infielder with soft hands, Bentivegna is extraordinarily focused and disciplined and also can play any of the outfield positions. And, of course, he does this as quietly and unobtrusively as possible.
