Scouting Report

Hitting

Mike Sroka has a torque-heavy swing that can get loose and hard to control. His approach puts him in poor hitting counts and he struggles to work himself back into at-bats. Sroka bat speed is plus and capable of pulling most quality upper level pitching, but he struggles with secondary stuff. Sroka gets massive when he gets extension but not a short to the ball type that can maneuver the barrel with great ease or work with challenging pitches; .300-.375 type hitter.

Base-Running & Defense

Mike Sroka routinely clocks sub times to first; easy plus (at present) with the second gear. Sroka likely to slow with continued physically maturity and physical demands on his body. Sroka has average speed for a catcher, better-than-you-think athlete. Defensively, Mike Sroka skills continue to improve. He can block a ball very well because of the athleticism and improved footwork, but Sroka carries an average arm with quick transfers but his throws show weak carry through the bag with inconsistent mechanics. Sroka has a tendency to rush his throws causing the ball to sail sideways; but with development his arm could be a weapon.
