Scouting Report

Hitting

Matt Tincher a positive influence both on the field and in the clubhouse has plenty of extra-base power, His line-drive stroke has natural loft, and he drives the ball to all fields with above-average punch. Tincher remains a potent combination of contact and speed hitting but is at his best when he trusts his swing to take the ball up the middle. Tincher at times can be a patient hitter who reads pitches well and displays good strike zone judgment. Some pitchers recently have had some success throwing the ball in on his hands, but he still is a dangerous hitter with runners on base, equally likely to beat pitchers with a gap shot or a run-scoring single.

Base-Running & Defense

An aggressive base runner with surprising above average speed, Matt Tincher is not afraid to stretch a single into an extra base hit. Tincher also does an excellent job of reading fielders, enabling him to score on miss played opportunities from the opponents. Matt Tincher has worked especially hard on improving his defensive skills and has made himself into a solid infielder who can play any of the 3 infield positions, and rarely makes any mental mistakes. His speed and athleticism allows him to attack grounders with reckless abandon when most other infielders wouldn’t even consider it, and he possesses a strong, accurate throwing arm. His range is the best in the game. These abilities will win him a Gold Glove someday.
