Scouting Report

Hitting

Brandon Wedyck remains a potent power hitter with the combination of contact and clutch hitting. His powerful line-drive stroke has natural loft, and he drives the ball to all fields with superb above-average punch. Wedyck likes to jump on the first pitch in the strike zone; but is at his best when he works the count into his favor. Wedyck can also be a dangerous hitter with runners in scoring position, equally likely to beat pitchers with a long ball or a run-scoring single. He sometimes gets long with his swing and will go through stretches when he is vulnerable to pop-outs, but he has learned to make adjustments to get out of those funks.

Base-Running & Defense

There are few better base runners in softball than the hard-driving Brandon Wedyck. He combines good decisions with extreme aggressiveness to take extra base hits, a threat that cannot be ignored. Defensively, he now is the standard by which all other outfielders are measured. He routinely makes plays no one else even attempts. Brandon Wedyck led the softball leagues with the highest fielding percentage; many were on balls other outfielders never would have reached. His arm strength allows him to make crisp throws even when on the run.
