Scouting Report

Hitting

Scouts talk about Steve Turk bat control and how he can essentially do what he wants with any pitch. A good run producer, Turk has been showing more consistent patience at the plate as his Base hits comes from his strong, quick wrists. Turk has been showing more consistent patience as he concentrates more on hammering pitches through the infield, especially when moving runners over when needed. Turk can bloop a base hit by flicking the bat through the strike zone with ease or he’ll drive the ball into center field just as easy and he continues to look comfortable at the plate.

Base-Running & Defense

Steve Turk has average speed with a loose, fluid stride. Turk is a solid base runner with great instincts who knows how to pick his spots to run. He shows good judgment in taking the extra bases. Defensively, Steve Turk is solid. Other infielders have modestly better range, but Turk positions himself well in the infield and reads the ball off the bat better than most, turns virtually every ball he touches into outs. He is extraordinarily focused and disciplined, and all of his throws hit other infielders squarely in the chest.
